IMPLANT
What is a dental implant? How is the treatment process?
Dental implant is a screw system made of titanium for the elimination of tooth deficiencies after tooth loss. Implants placed in the jawbone by surgical operation act as a tooth root and act as a basis for white teeth to be built on. After the implant is placed, the process of ossteointegration is initiated. That is, after dental implants are placed in the jawbone, it is expected that the jawbone and the implant will fuse. This average is between 2.5 and 3 months. However, if additional interventions are made, this period may be extended up to 6 months.
What are the advantages of dental implants?
In single tooth missing, tooth deficiency is eliminated without any intervention to the adjacent healthy teeth. In multiple tooth deficiencies, bridges are made by using more than one implant. Thus, the patient uses a fixed prosthesis instead of using a low comfortable removable prosthesis. In complete tooth deficiencies, that is, when the patient has no teeth, enough implants are placed and fixed prostheses are made. Thus, the patient gets rid of problems such as prosthesis bumps, prosthesis expansion, involuntary movement of the prosthesis in the mouth (especially in the lower jaw).
